Salina, KS (February 19, 2024) – On Friday, February 16, a woman was hurt after colliding with a commercial truck outside of Salina. The accident occurred on Interstate 70 westbound near South Ohio Street early that morning at around 9:30 a.m. Local reports revealed that 61-year-old Marilyn A. Canole of Abilene was traveling westbound in a Hyundai with icy conditions on the road. Canole attempted to change lanes on the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. This caused her car to spin out and collide with a 2021 International semi-truck driven by 54-year-old Gary A. Garrow of Lenexa. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to render aid to the involved parties. Canole was injured and transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the accident.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being handled by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues. Our thoughts are with Marilyn A. Canole and her family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
