Colwich, KS (March 12, 2024) – A pileup collision involving a semi-truck in the Colwich area on Monday, March 11, resulted in confirmed injuries. The accident was reported on K-96 in Sedgwick County early that morning. Local sources indicated that three vehicles were traveling westbound on the highway in the right lane when a fourth vehicle was headed east in the left lane.
It was then that a 2019 Ram 3500 pickup truck struck the rear of the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. The impact caused the Chevy to hit the rear of a trailer hauled by a 2002 Sterling semi, causing the truck to spin into the median. The Dodge then crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming 2017 Mack semi.
The drivers of the second and fourth vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The area was temporarily shut down as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
