Yates Center, KS (March 22, 2024) – There were serious injuries reported after a head-on crash in the Yates Center area on Thursday, March 21. The accident was reported on US-54 that afternoon at around 2:37 p.m. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched after being notified of a serious crash with injuries.
Local reports revealed that a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with an eastbound 1995 Mack Truck driven by 38-year-old Jeremy Robert Craft of Moran. The truck attempted to avoid the impact by entering a nearby gravel road, but the two vehicles still collided. The driver of the Chevy, later identified as 66-year-old Charles Lewis Wilson of Yates Center, was injured and transported to St. Luke’s Plaza Hospital in Kansas City, MO, for treatment. No further information has been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
