In Kansas, riding a motorcycle is a popular pastime. Even seasoned motorcycle riders are aware of the risks involved with sharing the road, as a serious collision can result in both severe injuries and other damages. In the United States, motorcycle riders account for a disproportionate share of traffic deaths. Over the course of a recent year, 1,867 motorcycle accidents were reported in Kansas alone. These crashes resulted in 90 fatalities and 1,213 injuries altogether. Over 35 percent of these collisions involved other drivers. Riders are nearly 28 times more likely to be killed in a crash, and the resulting injuries will always be much more severe.
