Wichita, KS (May 28, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a rear-end collision in the Wichita area on Monday, May 27. The accident took place on Interstate 235 that afternoon, around 2:02 p.m. Local reports revealed that the crash took place after an unknown vehicle made an abrupt lane change in front of a 2006 Toyota Highlander, driven by 75-year-old Marilla Wiley of Colby.
This caused Wiley to brake suddenly. The Highlander was hit from behind by a 2020 Buick Envision driven by 65-year-old Russell J. Wilson of Park City. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide aid at the scene. Both Wilson and his passenger, 65-year-old Barbara S. Wilson also from Park City, were transported to Wesley Medical Center Hospital by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
