Chanute, KS (June 12, 2024) – A cyclist was seriously injured after a collision in the Chanute area on Tuesday, June 11. The accident was reported early around 11:52 a.m. on S. Santa Fe Avenue. Local reports revealed that a 39-year-old Chanute man was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro traveling southbound as a 67-year-old Chanute man was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.
The driver reportedly made a right turn into Santa Fe Park when the rider collided with the Camaro. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The injured rider was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for the treatment of serious injuries. The driver was not hurt in the collision. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. No further information on the incident is currently available.
