Wichita, KS - Two Hurt in Car Accident at K-96 & West St

Wichita, KS (June 19, 2024) – Two people were injured after a crash in the Wichita area on Tuesday, June 18. The incident was reported on K-96 near West Street that night around 5:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that 29-year-old Candace Peaches Gallegos Serna of Wichita was driving a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer when she entered the highway.

Serna failed to see another vehicle traveling in the second lane. Serna had to take evasive action to avoid hitting the other car and lost control of the Mercury. The Mountaineer entered the south ditch where it rolled several times before coming to a rest on its roof. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both Serna and her passenger, 19-year-old Yasmin Guadalupe Albada of Wichita, were hurt and transported via ambulance to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital for treatment. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
