Wichita, KS (July 7, 2024) – Two people were injured following a rear-end collision in the Wichita area on Saturday, July 6. The accident was reported on Interstate 135 SB between 1st Street and 2nd Street. Local reports revealed that 48-year-old Jennifer Forbes of Garfield was traveling south in a 2022 Subaru Outback in lane two when she came to a stop for a disabled vehicle.
A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 19-year-old Daniel Gutierrez of Wichita stopped behind the Subaru. It was then that 38-year-old Fidel Valladares-Reyes failed to stop while driving a 2004 Toyota 4Runner and crashed into the back of the Malibu. The impact pushed the Chevy into the Subaru ahead of it. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. Both Gutierrez and his passenger, 18-year-old Giovanni Sanchez also from Wichita, were injured and transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
