Kansas City, KS (July 9, 2024) – There were multiple injuries after a multi-vehicle collision in the Kansas City area on Monday, July 8. The accident took place on Interstate 70 WB near mile marker 410.8 in Wyandotte County that night around 5:22 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2008 GMC Sierra and a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze were stopped in lane four due to heavy traffic on the highway.
At the same time, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by 55-year-old Sherrian Robinson of Kansas City was headed westbound in lane three. 18-year-old Angel Lopez De Leon of Kansas City was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck when she failed to see the stopped vehicles and crashed into the back of the GMC, driven by 24-year-old Trey Hampton of Tonganoxie. The Dodge then sideswiped the Hyundai. The Dodge then rotated where it hit the driver’s side of the Hyundai.
De Leon and Hampton were both injured and treated at the scene. Robinson and her passenger, 50-year-old Shawntale Lively of Kansas City, MO, were transported to KU Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. No updates on the incident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
