Colby, KS (July 9, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle wreck in the Colby area on Monday, July 8. The crash was reported on Interstate 70 WB near mile marker 36.2 that afternoon 1 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2025 Freightliner commercial vehicle and a 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck were traveling westbound on the interstate at the time of the crash.
The driver of the semi, 45-year-old Ryan Joseph Silva of Thornton, CO, drifted into the passing lane and collided with the Ford. The impact caused the F-150 to spin out and come to rest on the north shoulder. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. The driver of the pickup, 48-year-old Brandon Miles Smith of Wichita, KS, was transported by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center in Colby for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
