Brownell, KS (July 21, 2024) – A man was killed and another injured after a head-on collision in the Brownell area on Saturday, July 20. The deadly crash was reported on K-4 near K-147 that afternoon around 2 p.m. Local reports indicated a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 70-year-old Sidney Osborne of Brownell was traveling southbound when the pickup crossed the center line.
The truck crossed the eastbound lane and entered a south ditch before crashing head-on with a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Joseph D. Vasquez of Hoisington. The impact caused the Dodge to roll. Vasquez sustained fatal injuries in the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. Osborne was transported by ambulance to Grisell Memorial Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further updates on the deadly accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
