Delaware, KS - Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash at KS-5 & 119th St

Delaware, KS (August 5, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Delaware area on Sunday, August 4. The collision was reported at the corner of KS-5 and 119th Street that afternoon around 2:47 p.m. Local reports indicated that 66-year-old Reiko L. Schroff of Kearney, MO was driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma traveling westbound on 119th turning northbound onto KS-5 at the time of the crash. 

At the same time, 65-year-old Richard Allen Coons of Platte City, MO was driving north on the highway in a 1998 Harley Davidson FLS motorcycle. The Toyota entered the path of the oncoming rider, and the motorcycle crashed into the back of the Tacoma. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. Coons and his passenger, 68-year-old Kimberly Kay Heath of Kansas City, MO, were injured and transported by ambulance to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
