Norton, KS (August 16, 2024) – A man was killed and two others hurt after a single-vehicle accident in the Norton area on Thursday, August 15. The deadly crash took place on US-283 early that morning, around 10 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 29-year-old Lenora woman was driving an SUV headed southbound on the highway when she left the roadway to the right.
The vehicle re-entered the road and crossed the center line. The driver overcorrected, causing the SUV to roll. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver and two occupants were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. One passenger, 20-year-old Senquay Montes of Lenora, was later pronounced dead. The other occupant, a 75-year-old woman, was listed in serious condition. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
