Manhattan, KS (August 24, 2024) – Officials on Friday released the name of the man killed in a three-vehicle rollover crash Thursday afternoon in Manhattan.
The victim was identified as Glen B. Raw, 78, of Junction City. The crash was reported at around 1:35 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Seth Child Road and Anderson Avenue. The intersection was shut down for nearly five hours as crews were on the scene.
Riley County Police officials said a white Honda Civic was eastbound on Anderson when it collided with a green Chevrolet Equinox sport utility vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn onto Seth Child, causing it to roll. Raw, who was a passenger in the Equinox, was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Equinox, Karen Raw, 77, of Junction City, was life-flighted to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, officials said. The driver of the Civic, Ronni Combs, 41, of Riley. was taken by ambulance to Ascension Via Christi, officials added. Additional information about the condition of the Equinox and Civic drivers wasn’t available on Friday morning.
Riley County Police officials said a third car was “involved to a minor degree” in the crash as it was behind the Equinox and was struck as a result of the impact. The third car was listed as a Ford Focus driven by Jake Huber, 35, of Manhattan. Huber went to the hospital for treatment in a private vehicle. Meanwhile, Anderson Avenue at Seth Child Road was closed from around 1:34 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. However, the crash remained under investigation on Friday, and no further details were released.
