Great Bend, KS (August 29, 2024) – There were reported injuries after a crash in the Great Bend area on Wednesday, August 28. The accident took place at the corner of N. Washington Avenue and NW 30 Road at around 5:09 p.m. Local reports indicated that 61-year-old Kandis Diane Nye of Bushton was traveling west in a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck when she stopped at the intersection. 

At the same time, 26-year-old Andreas Dewayne Vereecke of Garifield was headed north in a 2006 Chevrolet C4500. Vereecke reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign, and the Ford hit the Chevy. The Chevrolet rolled one time before coming to a rest in an upright position. The pickup stopped just south of the intersection. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid to the involved parties. Nye was injured and transported by ambulance to the Kansas University Medical Center in Great Bend. No further information on the crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
