Lenexa, KS (September 2, 2024) – A motorcyclist was injured following a two-vehicle crash outside of Lenexa on Sunday, September 1st. The accident took place on the Interstate 435 WB ramp to Interstate 35 that afternoon around 2:31 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2015 Kia Optima and a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle were traveling westbound when the driver of the Kia, 21-year-old Alejandro M. Carrera of Overland Park, made a lane change and hit the nearby rider.
The motorcycle overturned, separating the rider from the vehicle. The Kia came to a stop in the second lane, and the Suzuki came to a rest on the shoulder. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The injured motorcyclist, 73-year-old Mark E. Binns of Olathe, was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
