Kansas Distracted Driving Crashes
Distracted driving is on the rise across the country, and Kansas is no exception. Nearly 18.1 percent of the crashes reported across the state in 2021 involved distracted motorists. More than 3,000 people die every year in the United States because of this careless behavior. Many more suffer life-changing injuries. While driving, you are distracted when you talk to a passenger, mess with the radio, or send a text message. All of these actions can cause you to lose focus on the road. About 10 percent of the time, drivers who are distracted will take their eyes off the road, meaning there is a much greater risk of a serious crash.
