Kansas Red Light Accidents
Intersections are dangerous locations on the road. Many drivers fail to follow signs and traffic signals, causing serious crashes in the process. Nearly 28 percent of fatal intersection accidents are caused by drivers who ignore red lights, according to data from the AAA Foundation. More than half of these deaths involved victims outside of the car that ran the light. A total of 1,109 people died in red-light running accidents in 2021, and nearly half of the deaths were in other cars, pedestrians, or cyclists. About 127,000 people were hurt in accidents involving people who ran red lights that year.
