Kansas City, KS (September 25, 2024) – On Tuesday, September 24, a pedestrian and several others were injured after a crash outside of Kansas City. The incident took place on Interstate 670 that afternoon around 3 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and a 2002 Toyota Camry were legally parked in the gore area of Interstate 670 at the time of the impact.
It was then that 67-year-old Benjamin Allen Holmes lost control while driving a 2015 Ford Taurus. Holmes experienced a medical episode and hit the Dodge, pushing it into the Toyota. An occupant in the pickup, 20-year-old Jonathan Ortiz Contreras of Kansas City, was injured and transported to Truman Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Camry, 46-year-old Victor Ortiz of Kansas City, was standing outside the vehicle and was hit directly by the oncoming Ford. Ortiz was also transported to Truman Hospital. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
