Newton, KS - Driver Hurt in Rear-end Crash at K-96 & Spencer Rd

Newton, KS (September 27, 2024) – A driver was injured after a two-vehicle collision in the Newton area on Tuesday, September 24. The incident took place on K-96 near Spencer Road at around 5:42 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2021 Ford Ranger pickup truck and a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze were traveling eastbound on the highway at the time of the impact. 

The driver of the Chevy, 63-year-old Tonya Marie Buche of Sedwick, slowed down to make a turn onto Spencer Road. The other driver, 20-year-old Jaden Malachi Taylor of El Dorado, failed to slow down and hit the back of the Cruze. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene. Buche was injured and transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
