Holton, KS (October 6, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a deadly two-vehicle crash in the Holton area on Saturday, October 5. The collision took place on US-75 NB near mile marker 185.5 at around 5:08 p.m. Local reports revealed that 38-year-old Jamie Lynn Wells of Topeka was traveling north in a 2019 Toyota Rav4 at the time of the crash.
It was then that 77-year-old Dianna Faye Slavens of Topeka entered the highway from a private driveway in a 2007 Honda CRV. Local reports revealed that Slavens failed to yield the right of way, and their vehicle was broadsided by the oncoming Rav4. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Slavens suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Wells and another occupant of the Toyota, 89-year-old Alva E. Goff Jr. of Topeka, were injured and transported by ambulance to Holton Community Hospital for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
