Columbus, KS - Injuries in Stop Sign Crash at US-160 & NE 20th St

Columbus, KS (October 12, 2024) – Two people were injured after a driver failed to yield at a stop sign in the Columbus area on Friday, October 11. The accident took place on US-160 near NE 20th Street at around 4:36 p.m. Local reports revealed that 45-year-old Vivian E. Hubbard of Columbus was traveling southbound on 20th Street in a 2010 Ford pickup truck approaching the highway. 

At the same time, 44-year-old Joseph A. Huddleston of Galena was headed west in a 2023 Dodge Ram pickup truck on the highway. For unknown reasons, Hubbard failed to obey a stop sign and entered the intersection, where he was struck by the oncoming Ram. The Dodge overturned into an east ditch. The Ford came to a rest on the roadway. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. Hubbard and a passenger in her vehicle, 47-year-old Joshua W. Doherty of Columbus, were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the accident is in progress.
