Colby, KS (October 21, 2024) – A driver was killed and a passenger was injured after a rollover car accident in the Colby area on Sunday, October 21. The deadly crash took place on County Road U early that morning around 8:45 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 16-year-old Colby resident was driving a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck heading eastbound on the roadway.
Near the 2700 block of County Road U, the vehicle made an unstable movement, and the driver over-corrected. The truck entered a south ditch and continued traveling forward into a nearby cornfield. The pickup overturned several times before coming to a stop facing northwest. Emergency responders were dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old passenger was injured and transported by ambulance to Citizens Medical Center. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
