Fort Scott, KS (October 26, 2024) – On Friday, October 25, a driver was hurt following a two-vehicle collision in the Fort Scott area. The accident took place on US-69 near Jayhawk Road that afternoon around 1:24 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 16-year-old Fort Scott resident was traveling westbound on Jayhawk Road in a 2005 Nissan Altima at the time of the impact.
At the same time, 75-year-old Mary Fuhr of Joplin, MO was headed northbound on the highway in a 2023 Subaru Outback. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Nissan failed to yield at a stop sign. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Fuhr was hurt and transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital for treatment. No further information on the collision is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
