Cherokee, KS (November 1, 2024) – A passenger was injured after a two-vehicle crash in the Cherokee area on Thursday, October 31. The accident took place on US-400 near KS-7 at around 4:45 p.m. Local reports revealed that 22-year-old Davis G. Davenport of Farlington was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck heading northbound behind a 1992 Ford pickup truck.
The driver of the Ford, 37-year-old Francisco J. Molina-Medrano of Pittsburg, slowed to make a left turn at the intersection. The Chevy crashed into the back of the other pickup. Emergency crews were later dispatched to provide the necessary medical aid. A passenger in the Ford, 36-year-old Felix Baldemar-Gomez of Pittsburg, was injured and transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
