St George, KS - Driver Injured in Collision at US-24 & Blackjack Rd

St George, KS (November 16, 2024) – There were serious injuries after a crash in the St. George area on Friday, November 15. The accident took place on US-25 near Blackjack Road early that morning around 7:31 a.m. Local reports revealed that 57-year-old Michael David Pilat of St. George was stopped at the intersection in a 2024 Kia Telluride facing north. 

At the same time, 37-year-old Awa Fanny Massounga Bora of Manhattan, KS was traveling east on US-24 in a 2016 Nissan Versa. Pilat reportedly failed to see the oncoming vehicle and entered the intersection, according to reports from the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), and the Nissan hit the Kia. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene. Bora was hurt and transported by ambulance to the Kansas University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
