Shawnee, KS (November 19, 2024) – A multi-vehicle crash occurred late Monday morning on I-435 northbound, just south of Midland Drive. The collision was reported at approximately 11:38 a.m. and involved a Freightliner Cascadia, an International HV607, and a GMC Acadia. At least one person sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, the Freightliner, driven by 55-year-old Meaux Khatib of Blaine, Minnesota, lost control while traveling north on I-435. The vehicle struck the median barrier, crashing into the southbound lanes and colliding with the International and the GMC. Khatib sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment. The drivers of the other vehicles, identified as 26-year-old Delvaun L. Hanks of Grandview, Missouri, and 53-year-old Rachelle L. Hernandez of Kansas City, Missouri, were involved in the collision, along with a passenger in the GMC, 23-year-old Angela Hernandez.

The scene was promptly attended by emergency responders, and traffic in the area was impacted during the response. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have yet to release further details. Updates will follow as the investigation continues.
