Alta Vista, KS - Two Injured in Motorcycle Crash at K-4 & Main St

Alta Vista, KS (September 30, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a motorcycle accident in the Alta Vista area on Sunday, September 29. The crash took place at the intersection of K-4 and Main Street that afternoon around 1:33 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle were headed eastbound on K-4 at the time of the impact.

The driver of the 2013 Harley, 78-year-old Pauline Louise McConnell of Larned, slowed down to make a turn north onto Main Street. The other rider following McConnell’s bike, 61-year-old Douglas Charles Lewis also from Larned, crashed into the back of the bike. Both riders were ejected in the impact. The 2008 motorcycle came to a rest in a south ditch, and the other came to a stop in a north ditch. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Lewis was taken by ambulance to Stormont Hospital, and McConnell was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. No further updates on the incident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.

Our thoughts are with Pauline Louise McConnell, Douglas Charles Lewis, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
