Baker, KS (September 10, 2024) – Several people were hurt after a single-vehicle crash in the Baker area on Monday, September 9. The collision took place that night, around 7:42 p.m., on KS-171 near S. 220th Street. Local reports revealed that a 2015 Ford Mustang operated by 18-year-old Rony Escobar Calderon of Pittsburg was traveling southbound on the highway.
The driver failed to properly navigate a curve on the roadway where it struck a culvert and overturned. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary aid to the involved parties. Calderon and another passenger, a 16-year-old from Frontenac, were injured in the crash but not transported to a medical facility. Two other passengers, a 14-year-old from Frontenac and a 12-year-old from Pittsburg, were injured and transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment. No updates on the collision are currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
