Basehor, KS (September 22, 2024) – On Friday, September 20, a three-vehicle crash in the Basehor area ended in confirmed injuries. The collision was reported early that morning around 6:33 a.m. on US-24 near 178th Street. Local reports revealed that a 2022 Kia Sportage and a 2012 Toyota Rav4 were traveling eastbound in the first lane at the time of the accident.
The driver of the Kia, 33-year-old David K. Scarborough of Kayenta, AZ, hit the back of the Toyota, driven by 60-year-old Carrie J. Simpson of Tonganoxie. The Sportage then crossed the grassy median where it struck a westbound 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 65-year-old Michael J. Martindale of Kansas City. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. Simpson was injured and transported to Providence Medical Center for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the crash. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as they become available.
