Canville, KS (August 14, 2024) – A driver was injured after a two-vehicle crash in the Canville area on Tuesday, August 13. The collision was reported at the corner of 160th Road and Douglas Road late that night around 5:10 p.m. Local reports revealed that 33-year-old Christopher Gericke of Chanute was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling westbound on 160th Road as a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 15-year-old Chanute resident was headed south on Douglas Road.
The Dodge reportedly had sirens engaged when the driver failed to yield to the oncoming Ford, and both vehicles collided. The impact caused the F-150 to roll. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. The 15-year-old motorist was injured and transported to Labette Health Hospital by ambulance for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
