Carbondale, KS (April 6, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a head-on crash in the Carbondale area on Friday, April 5. The accident was reported late that night around 9:05 p.m. on US-75 NB near E. 173rd Street. Local reports revealed that a 2010 Mazda CX7 driven by 25-year-old Oliva D. Killam of Topeka was traveling southbound on the highway as a 2017 Ford Fiesta driven by 42-year-old Karrie L. Ullery of Silver Lake was headed northbound.
Killam veered into oncoming traffic where it crashed head-on with the oncoming Ford. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render aid to the involved parties. Killam was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Ullery was also hospitalized in serious condition. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
