Cimarron, KS (September 19, 2024) – Multiple people were hurt after a head-on collision outside of Cimarron on Wednesday, September 18. The crash took place on US-50 near K-23 that afternoon around 1 p.m. Local reports revealed that 29-year-old Oswaldo Ramirez-Rivera of Los Angeles, CA was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry headed westbound on US-50 as 33-year-old Carlos Padron-Diaz of Narania, FL was traveling east in a 2009 Ford Flex sport utility vehicle.
For unknown reasons, Ramirez-Rivera crossed the center line and entered oncoming traffic. He lost control due to slippery roadways and collided head-on with the oncoming Ford. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. Both drivers were injured in the crash, and a passenger in the Ford, 52-year-old Maria Diaz-Garcia of Dodge City, was also hurt. Ramirez-Rivera and Diaz-Garcia were transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital – Garden City for treatment, and Padron-Diaz was taken by ambulance to St. Catherine’s Hospital – Dodge City. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
