Earlton, KS (May 7, 2024) – On Monday, May 6, one person was killed and another was hurt after a head-on crash in the Earlton area. The deadly accident was reported on US-169 SB that afternoon around 3:05 p.m. Local reports revealed that an Arkansas man was attempting to pass other vehicles by entering the northbound shoulder.
It was later revealed that 40-year-old Dean Bronson of Arkansas was traveling south in a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck when he entered the northbound shoulder and crashed head-on with a northbound 2011 Chevrolet Traverse SUV driven by a 51-year-old man from Jefferson City, MO. Branson was treated at the scene before being transferred to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the medical facility.
The driver of the Traverse was hospitalized in serious condition. No additional information on the crash is currently available at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
