El Dorado, KS (August 14, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a car accident outside of El Dorado on Tuesday, August 13. The accident was reported on Interstate 35 NB near mile marker 95.8 early that morning around 7:50 a.m. Local reports revealed that 51-year-old Deborah Book of Augusta was traveling in a 2019 Ford Escape in lane one when she attempted to pass a 2021 Volvo semi-truck in lane two.
The Ford hydroplaned and crashed into the center barrier wall before hitting Volvo’s trailer and striking the wall again. The Escape became disabled on the roadway, and the truck-tractor came to a stop. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. Both Book and her passenger, 57-year-old Tracy Lolley of Wichita, were injured in the crash, and the victims were transported to Wesley Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. The truck driver, 63-year-old Earl Vanhooser of Johnson, was not hurt in the crash. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress, and more information will be provided as it continues.
Our thoughts are with Debroah Book, Tracy Lolley, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
