Garden City, KS (August 3, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Garden City area on Friday, August 2. The crash occurred at the intersection of K-156 and Kansas Avenue that afternoon around 1:10 p.m. Local reports revealed that 19-year-old Cesar A. Saldivar-Esparza of Garden City was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander on Kansas as 68-year-old James L. Smith of Garden City was headed west on Kansas in a 2012 Ford Mustang.
Saldivar-Esparza attempted to make a left turn onto K-156 and entered the path of the oncoming Mustang. Both vehicles collided, and emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide the necessary aid. Smith was transported by ambulance to St. Catherine in Garden City for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
