Girard, KS (April 2, 2024) – A Frontenac man was killed following a two-vehicle crash in the Girard area on Monday, April 1. The deadly accident was reported that afternoon at around 3:41 p.m. on K-7 NB near mile marker 26. A 1988 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 74-year-old Terry L. Harper of Fronenac was traveling southbound on the highway at the time of the incident.
At the same time, a 1989 GMC pickup truck driven by 64-year-old Antonio Zamora Gallardo of Miami, OK, was backing out of a private driveway. Gallardo failed to yield and entered the path of the oncoming Chevy. Harper attempted to swerve to avoid the crash but hit the front corner of the GMC. Harper then over-corrected, causing his vehicle to overturn. Harper suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at the time. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
