Hutchinson, KS (March 20, 2024) – A head-on collision in the Hutchinson area on Tuesday, March 19, left two people with injuries. The accident was reported in Reno County at the corner of K-14 and 56th Avenue that afternoon at around 3:33 p.m. Local sources revealed that a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on the highway when it attempted to pass a commercial truck.
As the Ford was passing the vehicle, it crashed head-on with an oncoming 2007 Kia Rio traveling south. The driver of the F-150, 69-year-old Eric Mickel Hoffman of Sterling, was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. The driver of the Kia, 25-year-old Steven John Payton of Alden, was also transported to the hospital for treatment. No one else was hurt in the accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
