Johnson County, KS (August 24, 2024) – One person died in an accident just before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, in Johnson County, according to authorities who reported to the scene this evening.
The crash involving a minivan and a semi-truck occurred in the area of East Old 56 Highway and South Lone Elm Road in Olathe, according to Olathe Police Sergeant John Moncayo.
First responders found the driver and sole occupant of the minivan was a 77-year-old woman who was unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed on the woman while on the site, but she was later declared deceased, per the latest details provided by Moncayo. The 42-year-old male driver of the semi-truck remained on the scene and cooperated with officials, though it’s unclear if he was also injured in the collision.
This case remains under investigation by the Olathe Police Department. Police have not released the name of the woman who died.
