Junction City, KS (October 2, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a car accident in the area of Junction City on Tuesday, October 1. The accident was reported that morning around 10:35 a.m. at the corner of K-57 and K-44. Local reports indicated that a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by 29-year-old Lashawndra T. Mollice Smith of Wichita Falls, TX was traveling northbound on K-57 at the time of the impact.
At the same time, 42-year-old Johnny R. Gibson of Enterprise was headed south in a 2022 Ford F-150 pickup truck. For unknown reasons, Smith failed to yield at the intersection and collided with the oncoming pickup. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Smith and Gibson were both hurt in the crash and were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Junction City for the treatment of sustained injuries. No one else was hurt by the impact. No further information on the crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
