Kansas City, KS (March 18, 2024) – A driver was hurt after their vehicle was hit on an interstate in Kansas City on Sunday night, March 17. The incident was reported at around 10:26 p.m. on Interstate 70 WB near 18th Street. A 2018 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 64-year-old Ademola A. Orekoya of Kansas City, KS was traveling westbound on the interstate at the time of the accident.
A 2017 Ford Explorer was stopped in the first lane with emergency lights activated. The driver, 29-year-old Markaela B. Kelly also from Kansas City, was outside the Ford and her passenger was exiting the car when it was sideswiped by the oncoming Nissan. Kelly was transported to KU Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
