Kansas City, KS (May 22, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries following a pileup collision in the Kansas City area on Tuesday, May 21. The accident occurred on Interstate 70 EB near mile marker 416 that afternoon around 3:59 p.m. Local reports revealed that four vehicles were traveling eastbound on the interstate leading up to the crash.
It was later reported that 41-year-old James Bohanna Jr. from Independence, MO, was headed east in a 2021 Kia K5 when the driver lost control and crashed into the rear of a 2015 Toyota 4Runner driven by 21-year-old Akou Amedanou of Kansas City. It was then that a 2004 Acura TL driven by 57-year-old Abraham Gaspar Mendez of Kansas City hit the rear of a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by 21-year-old Mariela Tinoco of Kansas City, MO. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene, and Amedanou was treated at the scene for sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.
