Kansas City, KS (August 22, 2024) – On Wednesday, August 21, there were reported injuries after a multi-vehicle accident in the Kansas City area. The collision was reported that night around 5:10 p.m. on Interstate 35 SB near 18th Street. Local reports revealed that a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, a 2013 Toyota Camry, and another vehicle were traveling southbound at the time of the impact.
For unknown reasons, there was an abrupt stop in traffic on the interstate. This caused the driver of the Chrysler, 30-year-old Hannah Grace Bercel of Kansas City, MO, to crash into the back of the Toyota, driven by 47-year-old Jason Dwayne Young of Overland Park, which then hit the back of the third vehicle. The third driver fled the scene. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched, and Young was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
