Kansas City, KS - Passenger Hurt in Rear-end Crash at I-635 & State Ave

Kansas City, KS (June 30, 2024) – A passenger was injured after a multi-vehicle collision in the Kansas City area on Saturday, June 29. The accident was reported on Interstate 635 SB near State Avenue late that night around 11:05 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2018 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, a 2008 Nissan Titan pickup truck, and a 2009 Mercedez-Benz E-Class passenger car were traveling south in the second lane at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Mercedez slowed due to traffic on the interstate. This caused the driver of the Nissan pickup, 37-year-old Ruth N. Lujan-Villegas of Kansas City, to stop. The Nissan was hit from behind by the Dodge pickup, driven by 47-year-old Marcus Robinson of Kansas City. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. A passenger in the Nissan, 45-year-old Mauro Salazar of Kansas City, was injured in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to Shawnee Mission Medical Hospital. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
