Kansas City, KS - Several Hurt in Rear-end Crash at I-635 & I-70

Kansas City, KS (October 19, 2024) – There were multiple injuries reported after a pileup crash in the Kansas City area on Friday, October 18. The accident took place on Interstate 635 SB near Interstate 70 at around 4:51 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2016 Subaru Outback, a 2003 Honda Accord, a 2017 Nissan Rogue, and a 2013 Toyota Corolla were all traveling southbound on the interstate at the time of the crash.

The traffic came to a standstill, causing a chain-reaction crash where the teenage driver of the Subaru hit the back of the Honda, driven by 25-year-old Karla J. Garcia of Kansas City. This pushed the Honda into the back of the Nissan, driven by 27-year-old Chase A. Collins, which then hit the back of the Corolla, driven by 34-year-old Jimena Garcia-Jimenez of Kansas City. Emergency crews were later sent to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The teen driver, Garcia, Collins, and a passenger in the Honda, 20-year-old Isaac Nolina of Kansas City, were injured. The teen driver was taken to Advent Health Hospital, while Garcia and Nolina were transported to the Kansas University Medical Center for treatment. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.

Our thoughts are with Karla J. Garcia, Chase A. Collins, Isaac Nolina, the injured victim, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
