Kansas City, KS (May 18, 2024) – On Friday, May 17, two people were injured after a car crash in the Kansas City area. The accident was reported at the corner of N. 78th Street and Corona Avenue that night around 7:35 p.m. It was reported that two vehicles collided while traveling through the intersection.
According to local sources, a 2012 Hyundai Elantra driven by 27-year-old Yoiber Salvador Graterol Nieves of Kansas City was traveling northbound on 78th as 35-year-old Anthony Henry Serrano of Kansas City was crossing the road in a 2024 Dodge Durango. It was reported that Serrano had almost finished crossing the intersection when Nieves attempted to maneuver around his vehicle. The Elantra crashed into the passenger side of the Dodge, causing the Hyundai to spin out and leave the roadway. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. Nieves was transported to the Kansas University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. The other driver was treated at the scene. No further information is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
