Kansas City, KS (October 24, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Kansas City area on Wednesday, October 23. The accident took place on Interstate 635 SB near State Avenue early that morning, around 7:06 a.m. Local reports revealed that a 1999 Mack truck and a 2014 Hyundai Sonata were traveling southbound in the first lane at the time of the crash.

For unknown reasons, traffic began to slow on the interstate. The driver of the Mack truck, 62-year-old Harvey D. Marshall of Kansas City, MO, failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the Hyundai. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. Marshall was transported by ambulance to the Kansas University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, 28-year-old Gabrielle A. Miller of Parkville, MO, was also injured and treated at the scene. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Semi-Truck Accidents in Kansas

Kansas City, KS - Two Injured in Semi Collision at I-635 & State AveKansas roads and highways are filled with massive commercial trucks. Every year, more than 500,000 major semi-truck crashes are reported on American roads, leaving over 5,000 people dead and countless more seriously injured. When fully loaded, these big rigs can weigh up to 70,000 pounds, and semi-trucks pose a risk in crashes with passenger cars. Unfortunately, statistics show that most trucking accidents involve smaller vehicles. Truck drivers are known to make critical errors on the road that result in catastrophic crashes because they are under pressure to put in long hours on the road, which significantly raises the probability of a collision.
