Labette County, KS (December 9, 2024) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on U400 near York Road around 5:33 p.m. on Friday evening, resulting in injuries to one driver. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the collision took place when a 2013 Chevy Silverado failed to slow for a 2015 Chevy Silverado that was attempting to turn northbound onto York Road, striking it from behind.
The driver of the second vehicle, 68-year-old Dorothy Maffei of McCune, Kansas, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Labette Health for treatment. The driver of the first vehicle, Matthew Huddleston, 39, of Joplin, Missouri, was reportedly uninjured, along with his passenger, 82-year-old Roger Clark of McCune. Emergency responders were present at the scene, and traffic was briefly disrupted while crews addressed the incident. The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
