Lakin, KS (August 27, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a two-vehicle collision in the Lakin area on Monday, August 26. The crash was reported on K-25 about 11 miles north of US-50 early that morning around 6:32 p.m. Local reports revealed that 30-year-old Kase Ryan Wilson of Wichita Falls, TX was driving a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck when he hit the trailer of a 2025 Kenworth semi-truck operated by 26-year-old Jeffrey Dillan Thompson of Perrtyon, TX.
Both vehicles left the roadway and entered opposite ditches. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Wilson and his passenger, 53-year-old Kenneth Neal Rhea of Cleveland, TX were injured in the impact. Both victims were transported by ambulance to Kearny County Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No other injuries were reported in the accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
