Lawrence, KS (April 7, 2024) – A three-vehicle crash in the Lawrence area on Saturday, April 6, resulted in confirmed injuries. The accident was reported early that morning around 9:58 a.m. on US-40 EB near Clinton Parkway. A 2005 Buick Century driven by a 16-year-old Mayetta resident was traveling on the highway when he failed to stop for traffic and crashed into the rear of a 2016 Jeep Compass driven by 53-year-old Darla Odle of Abilene.
The impact caused the Jeep to collide with a 2022 Toyota Camry driven by 49-year-old Wendy Compton of Lawrence. The crash caused all three vehicles to become disabled, and they had to be removed from the scene by responding tow trucks. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to render aid to the involved parties.
The Mayetta teen was hurt and transported by ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka for treatment. Odle was also injured and transferred to the same hospital. No other injuries were reported in the accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
High-speed Collisions in Kansas
Everybody on the road is actively at risk from speeding drivers. There is an excellent reason why there are a lot of serious auto accidents each year caused by high-speed crashes. Speeding significantly increases the likelihood that drivers may lose control of their cars and effectively reduces the ability of safety measures on your automobile to operate as intended. Over 10,000 people countrywide lose their lives in high-speed collisions every year, in part due to this lethal combination.
There is always a higher chance of catastrophic injury in these types of crashes.
